In 2025, ECEID issued its annual update, reflecting the evolving legal, regulatory, and geopolitical environment surrounding higher education and accreditation. The update refines selected terms that have become politicized in certain jurisdictions, ensuring our standards remain globally applicable, mission-aligned, and legally resilient, while mitigating unnecessary risk for our member institutions. Technical edits also reinforce expectations for Scholarly Academic faculty within Management and Technology Schools, reaffirming that peer-reviewed journal publications are a core component of the scholarship portfolio, alongside impactful applied and interdisciplinary research. ECEID is proud to serve a diverse international network of business, management, and technology schools and will publish an explanatory note to clarify the intent, content, and implications of these updates to support consistent interpretation across regions.
